nunu reads recipes. It is built so that the only thing it ever needs to know about you is how you eat — and it goes out of its way not to learn anything else.
What the extension reads
Each page you open, to see whether there is a recipe on it. That check happens inside your browser, on your computer, and nothing about the page leaves it. A page with no recipe is forgotten the moment it has been checked; nunu keeps no record of it.
When a page does carry a recipe — the machine-readable kind nearly every recipe site publishes — the recipe and the page address are sent to nunu, the verdict is shown on the page, and the recipe is saved to your cookbook. That is the whole point: everything you looked at is there when you go to cook.
Pages with no recipe markup — a social caption, a forum post — are only read when you ask, by clicking the nunu button or by highlighting the text and choosing “Check this recipe” from the right-click menu.
The extension asks Chrome for permission on all sites because recipes live on all sites — there is no list of cooking websites to enumerate.
What it sends
The recipe it found and the address of the page it found it on, to nunu’s own server, so it can be checked against your household and saved to your cookbook. Nothing is sent to anyone else. There is no analytics service, no advertising network, and no third party watching this happen.
A recipe with no machine-readable markup — a social caption, say — is sent to Anthropic’s API to be turned into a structured recipe, and nothing more. Your profile is not included.
What it keeps
- In the extension: one key, which links it to your account. Nothing else. Pages the extension runs on cannot reach it.
- On the server: what you told nunu about how you eat, the recipes you saved, and which you have cooked.
- Shared: the recipes themselves. A recipe is the same recipe for everyone, so it is read once and reused — which is what keeps nunu free. Your profile and your cookbook are yours alone and are never shared or sold.
What it does not do
- It does not collect or transmit your browsing history.
- It does not send anything about a page that has no recipe on it.
- It does not sell data, and there is nothing here to sell.
- It does not use your data to train anyone’s model.
Deleting it
Removing the extension from Chrome removes the key with it. To delete your account and everything attached to it, email robinmehta94@gmail.com and it will be deleted, not deactivated.
